Hallelujah! ROYNATION is on its knees...in a good way! With all the stuff going down around the Gay Straight Alliances and Catholic Schools, it's time to go Catholic. So we're going to be indulging in some perpetual indulgence - that is men, mostly gay men, who become nuns and serve the community through fundraising (bingo, of course), working in AIDS/HIV prevention and helping the homeless. They are not without their critics, but who's not going to have their worlds tilt a bit when they see a bearded man in a nun's habit all done up like a dish of fish? I have a soft spot in my heart for them and they want to set up a mission in Toronto....we'll find out why, how and who... And of course we'll be talking about those GSAs and what Jesus and the (Carol) Pope would do. The sweetheart kid we wanted to talk to was told he couldn't by the parents....oh well. But bless them - they made room for GERRY ROGERS! The lovely documentary maker, former-nun, Out Lesbian MPP for St. John's Centre in Newfoundland. And they just put in a sack load of money into developing GSAs in the province's schools! Respecting Difference my ass! And may the force be with you.
