Day 56 : Oil Still Spilling Over, What About Your Cup?

We are all, understandably obsessed with the Gulf Oil Spill (caps required). We are watching the oil, talking about the oil, praying about the oil, and agonizing over the oil. The oil leak in the Gulf is predominating all of the other topics. Something about this oil obsession sounds familiar in a spiritual sense. Interestingly, the oil of the Holy Spirit is the one thing we should be talking about, praying about and agonizing over. The Holy Spirit is a Comforter, a discerner of the thoughts and the intents of the heart, and our interpreter when speaking to Father God; yet we are not as obsessive in our conversations about the Holy Spirit. In fact, sometimes we seem to forget the Holy Spirit will leave the earth. Moving forward, why not endeavor to talk about the Oil of the Spirit with obsessive, compulsive, orderly, disorder! After all, having a leak in your spiritual cup produces a gulf between you and God - a far greater consequence than the oil leaking in the Gulf.
