Listen as DJ Carmie interviews the legendary Clayton Savage. Get to hear about Clayton's journey through the music industry and how he moved in as studio secessionist and producer at Sugar Hill Records and was introduced to the lineup, which included the Grandmaster Melle Mel of the GM Flash Camp. Aside from writing and recording with many of the legends, including Kool Moe Dee, The Sugarhill Gang and The Sequence, it was a cut from Clayton’s solo album titled “WE DON"T WORK FOR FREE” that caught Sylvia Robinson’s ear and she suggested that Mele Mel add a rap to the song. This led to the song moving from Clayton’s solo album and to his becoming a member of the Furious Five. Get to hear what advice Clayton has to offer independent artists in today's world and what it takes to get them motivated to continue to entertain their fans down to this day!
