The United Health Foundation’s 2018 Health of Women and Children Report indicates that the United States has made progress in several key areas that contribute to premature deaths and poor health outcomes for women and children. However, more women and children in the country are dying from drugs, suicide, childbirth and pregnancy-related ailments. The report also reveals startling health disparities across state lines and among racial and ethnic groups, especially among black women and children.
