A FAMILY COURT JUDGE TALKS ABOUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND THE COURTS

The horror stories about domestic violence, divorce, child custody and the too- often devastating decisions handed down in family court abound. This week's show features a retired judge who advocates and teaches about how abusers use the court system, and many of his insignts and experiences shed some light on what happens in courts when abusers use the courts to further abuse their victims. 

 Judge Eugene Hyman served 20 years on the Superior court in the Criminal, Family, Juvenile, and Probate divisions of the Court. The Juvenile Domestic and Family Violence Court began in 1999 and is believed to be the first such court in the US. It received the United Nations Public Service Award in 2008. Assitionally, he has taught Domestic Violence related subjects in Canada, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, besides in the US.
