The will to build...were has it gone?

Over the years we have become a society or culture of the "instant gratification" we no longer want to take the time to build greatness, instead spend massive amounts of money to try to avoid it. Specifically in sports, the days of "Building a winner" is out the door and to putting things togther and hoping it works has become the norm. The pride should me be from building, not aquiring. Great things that are built tend to stay together and strive. Can we get the will to build again?
