In this episode, Eleanor's special guest is Dr. Kenneth J. Doka, an educator, pioneer and major contributor to the field of grief studies and thanatology. One of his many contributions was identifying different grieving styles. Dr. Doka will describe the different styles so that you can acknowledge, assess, assist in identifying your own style of grieving. He will particularly shed light on the less familiar style of Instrumental Grief as it can pertain to a variety of situational losses. As a prolific author, Dr. Doka wrote about the different styles in several articles and as a co-author in his books Grieving Beyond Gender: Understanding the Ways Men and Women Mourn and Men Don't Cry, Women Do: Transcending Gender Stereotypes of Grief.
