In late 2008, a blog titled Murder In Jeff Davis Parish…..Is There A Serial Killer On The Loose? was created by a Lafayette, LA resident who, wishing to remain anonymous, posts under the nickname G8trgirl. The site was originally established for the personal purpose of having a central location to house information regarding the unsolved, female murders in the parish. Material on the blog includes links to media coverage, videos, maps, time lines, personal commentary, and brief overviews on each victim and circumstances surrounding their deaths. As word spread of the blog’s existence, public viewing of the site, and individuals posting comments, began to gain momentum daily. The blog contains over 12,000 comments and has been viewed over 300,000 times to date. A forum was established in late 2009 as a companion to the blog. We will discuss G8trgirl's work, reflection, and motivations for running these sites that have been a popular source for information on the JD Killer case as well as a seemingly popular focus of contoversy amoung those both inside and outside the investigation.
