Turntablism is the art of manipulating sounds and creating music using phonographic turntables and a DJ mixer. Composer John Oswald described the art: "A phonograph in the hands of a 'hiphop/scratch' artist who plays a record like an electronic washboard with a phonographic needle as a plectrum, produces sounds which are unique and not reproduced -- the record player becomes a musical instrument." However it seems as though this art is dying and true turntablist are being replaced by Itunes on the their Mac book toting impersonators.Tonight we will b joined by DJ from around the country to discuss the history of Djing and its trend toward the future.
