Bishop Benny Sagra celebrates the Sunday Mass on the Third Sunday of Advent which is also referred to as Gaudete (Rejoice) Sunday.  LIturgical Color:  Rose

Epistle:  Philippians 4:4-6  <> Gospel:  John 1:19-28

THEME:  REJOICE IN THE LORD

SYNOPSIS:  On this Gaudete  (Rejoice) Sunday, we are invited to spiritual joy,
for "the Lord is near";  but we are also warned like the Pharisees to whom 
St. John the Baptist said:  "In the midst of you there has stood One Whom
you do not know."  This and the 4th Sunday of Lent are the only Sundays
throughout the year in which rose colored  vestments are permitted because
of the theme of joy throughout the Mass.
