Physicist and founder of the first HBCU secular student organization Mark D. Hatcher will be our guest tonight discussing atheism in the African-American Community. Hatcher is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at Howard University. He is also Founder and President of the Secular Students at Howard University, an organization committed to providing a community for non-religious students and members of the community, promoting critical thinking and education, and building bridges between secular and faith-based populations. Secular Students at Howard University received national recognition as the first organization of its kind for African-American youth and young adults. Consequently, Mark Hatcher has emerged as one of the leading voices on the experiences of the non-religious members of Black America.
