The priority that we need to stress regarding our next guest, Wendy Moten: you cannot put this Goddess in a box. Hear me?! :-D We have all loved Wendy's contribution to Pop, R & B, and Jazz through the years - we have appreciated her significant presence on tours with those who have Gold and Platinum recordings. But the reason for this visit on 11/24: her dream come true - a Country album produced by Grammy-winning Vince Gill, long-time fan.
It can't be stressed enough how loved these two artists are in Nashville - and beyond. Wendy has toured with Vince since 2016 - and he asked her to join his award-winning, Western Swing ensemble, The Time Jumpers. That this nine-track set has been recorded and now available - with the best of the best session musicians - is a Big Deal. Attention is now on Black females in the Country music world. The timing is right to move music forward in a powerful, heartfelt way. NO ONE can do this like Wendy Moten!
This is a beautifully crafted empire that our multi-talented vocalist has built. Born in Memphis, Wendy has spent over twenty years in the city that yours truly has called home twice. Powerful Tennessee residents have partnered with her - Michael McDonald, Kirk Whalum, Martina McBride and Larry Carlton. But the artists who asked her to open and/or tour with them - well, that speaks for itself. 15 years with Julio Iglesias; almost as many with Faith Hill and Tim McGraw - and with Vince Gill since 2016. He made it a point to get totally involved with Wendy's project. He heard her voice singing the songs that he chose - and the result is MAGIC.
From the time her self-titled album popped in 1992 - featuring the charted "Come In Out of The Rain" - Wendy's popularity has grown to amazing heights. A beautiful reputation in home turf, the U.K., Japan and beyond. She is known as "The Voice." You'll hear that CLEARLY on 11/24. Join us!
