Young Palestinian Activists Look to Follow Egypt and Tunisia to Forge a New Future

Youth have been at the forefront of the revolutions and protests sweeping across the region and their use of new media and old fashioned organizing tactics to topple regimes long thought to be invincible has been extensively documented.

In the occupied Palestinian territories a youth-led march is being planned for March 15 in Gaza and the West Bank. The initiative is being spearheaded by a new generation of tech-savvy activists that are borrowing tactics and inventing their own in order to breathe new life into what they hope will be a movement capable of uniting and reforming their own leadership, and ending the decades-long Israeli occupation.

Fajr Harb is a Palestinian living in the West Bank. He is the Assistant Director of The Carter Center Field Office in Ramallah and a member of al Shabaka: The Palestinian Policy Network. He joins us to provide insight into, and commentary on, the recently growing Palestinian youth movements.

Lina Al-Sharif is a Palestinian woman living in Gaza. She is a senior English Literature student at the Islamic University in Gaza, an active blogger and writer.

Fadi Quran is a Palestinian living in the West Bank. He is the founder of an alternative energy startup and also works as a coordinator within various youth movements. He is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Human Rights and Constitutional Law, and graduated from Stanford University with degrees in Physics and International Relations.
