Hug It Forward built its first school in 2009 in Guatemala from plastic bottles stuffed with trash. The idea was simple, to bring education to poorer communities and also clean up the environment. It was a win-win situation that led to dozens of schools being built in Guatemala and other parts of Central America. We'll speak to the director and some volunteers of the project.
Special Guest:
Gerson Guitz is the Director of Bottle Schools for Hug It Forward, a grass-roots organization that facilitates education and awareness by empowering communities in Latin America to build “bottle schools”. As the Director of Bottle Schools, he’s responsible for the construction of the bottle schools and communication with community and government leaders. Gerson is also the trip leader for Serve The World Today, (Hug It Forward’s first partner) a for-profit company with a mission to facilitate a direct connection between the donor and the community receiving the donation.
