MK Czerwiec, nurse, teacher and author, will talk to us about how she teaches this simple, approachable art form to help people — from medical students to cancer patients — express their illness and caregiving experiences, with amazing results. She’ll also talk about studies underway that prove this method of story-telling and release truly works. MK is the artist-in-residence at Northwestern Medical School, where she earned a Master's degree in Medical Humanities & Bioethics, and a guest cartoonist for the Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation. She just completed her first graphic memoir, Taking Turns: Stories from Unit 371, which will to be published in early 2017.
