Dr. Joyce Cooper-Kahn
Supporting Executive Functioning in the Inclusive Classroom
Joyce Cooper-Kahn, Ph.D., is a clinical child psychologist whose career has focused on helping children and their families to successfully manage academic, behavioral, and emotional challenges. Her approach focuses on building competencies in children. Dr. Cooper-Kahn has particular expertise in attention disorders, learning disabilities and school consultation with an emphasis on interventions for executive functioning difficulties.
Dr. Cooper-Kahn is the co-author, with Dr. Laurie Dietzel, of Late, Lost and Unprepared: A Parents' Guide to Helping Children with Executive Functioning. She is also the co-author of The Educator’s Guide to Executive Functioning, a collaboration with learning specialist Margaret Foster, which is currently in press (Jossy-Bass).
A frequently invited speaker, Dr. Cooper-Kahn is committed to bridging the gap between research and daily practice. She is enthusiastic in her efforts to create a better understanding of youth with and executive functioning weaknesses.
Dr. Cooper-Kahn maintains an active clinical practice in Severna Park, Maryland. She is the co-founder of Psychological Resource Associates where she provides consultation, treatment, psychological assessment, parent guidance, and school consultation.
