It IS Rocket Science. The 50th Anniversary of Women in Space

 As many Tomatoes were fighting for equal rights in America, Valentina Tereshkova in Russia was the first women to launch into space in 1963. It all started there for women in space.   To celebrate this milestone, we are privileged to have an actual female space scientist on our show -- Dr. Laurie Leshin, one of our country’s foremost scientific leaders.  As a member of the NASA leadership team, Dr. Laurie Leshin has played an integral role in the success of the largest and most important scientific endeavors in space exploration such as the landing of  Curiosity Rover on Mars in August and crafting a new future for space exploration following the retirement of the shuttle program.  Dr. Laurie Leshin is also Dean of the School of Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  Tune in as we honor Laurie and all women pioneers in space and delve into the importance of space science and how it directly affects our daily lives.   This is an amazing opportunity to interact with a pioneer.
